John Napoleon Crow Family Bible





These are the original pages of a family Bible originally belonging to the John Napoleon Crow family. The originals may be viewed at the KGS Library and Research Center.  John Napoleon Crow died in San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas, in 1944.

CHANGE OF MEETING LOCATION 

The February 17, 2016, meeting of the Kerrville Genealogical Society will be in the UGRA building, 125 Lehmann Drive, in the meeting room at the other end of the building from KGS.

The program, which begins at 2 p.m. is "Personal Stories from the American Civil War", presented by Barbara Sheffer.

Rene Sherman Collection--#19, 20--tourist courts

Two more tourist courts.  Doranso Lodge is at 2800 Memorial. It still stands although today it is River Run Apartments, not a tourist court.

Rene Sherman Collection #17, 18--Schreiner University

Scenes from Schreiner University. The Westminster Presbyterian Encampment was located on the Schreiner U. grounds. Some of these houses may have been moved.  They were located near the area where the Union Church building is today near Travis Street and Memorial Drive.

The Bass Courts were on Water Street near its intersection with Broadway.  These buildings no longer stand.  "Cottages & Cabins. Gas heat. Hot & Cold water. Private showers. Groceries on ground. Milk & Ice twice daily. Rate $1 to $ 3 per day. Rates by week or month.  R. Lee Bass, owner."
