                                      TIVY MOUNTAIN CEMETERY

LOCATION: JUST OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS OF KERRVILLE ON F.M. 1341.
HISTORY: THIS CEMETERY WAS ESTABLISHED SOMETIME AFTER 1890 AS A PRIMARILY BLACK CEMETERY.  THE LAND ORIGINALLY WAS PART OF THE WALLACE RANCH, AN ORIGINAL LAND GRANT FOR THE STATE OF TEXAS FOR TEXAS REVOLUTIONARY SERVICE.  SOMETIME AROUND 1893 THE CEMETERY SITE WAS SOLD TO THE CITY OF KERRVILLE.

Sam Dimry. His obituary is on p. 5 in the Kerrville Times Oct 13, 1938. "Burial was in the colored cemetery on Cypress Creek”

Hotel Visitors in Early Kerr County, March 1902

Hotel Visitors in Early Kerrville--March 1902
This is a list of hotel visitors as reported in the Kerrville Mountain Sun. This is not a complete list, only those reported in the newspaper. Most are Kerrville.
The St. Charles was located at the corner of Water Street where City Hall is today.  The Gerdes Hotel was on the corner of Washington and Water, facing Water Street, where there is a small parking lot for the Catholic church today.  New South Hotel was on Mountain Street (now Earl Garrett Street), probably opposite the Schreiner Mansion.
The Avenue Hotel was in Center Point. 

Kerrville Mountain Sun, 1 March 1902
J. F. Fuller came in from Rock Springs this week and spent several days at the Gerdes Hotel.  Mr. Fuller went from here to his home in Center Point.

Will Hoeffner, of Ted Hole ranch, was a guest at Hotel Gerdes yesterday.

Hon. W. C. Linden and daughter, Miss Alma, are among the guests at the St. Charles Hotel.

A special effort will be made to care for stockmen and their families.

Chas. Peril and daughter, of the Divide, were among the guests at the Gerdes Thursday.

Mrs. J. A. Bowles came up Thursday from San Antonio to join her husband, who has a position with D. A. Pace, the saddler. They are stopping for the present at the Gerdes hotel.

Mrs. Dr. W. A. Dold and children of Victoria arrived in Kerrville Thursday and registered at the Gerdes.  They left yesterday for London to join Mr. Dold who has recently located at that place in the practice of his profession.

Mrs. Cecil Robertson and little daughter, who had been visiting at San Antonio and other points, arrived in Kerrville Wednesday and registered at the Hotel Gerdes.  They left in the afternoon for their home in Edwards county.

W. H. Bonnell and mother, Mrs. C. F. Bonnell, of Camp Verde, were guests at the St. Charles Hotel Tuesday.

E. M. Ford, representing Staake Bros., of San Antonio, was among the guests at the St. Charles hotel Thursday.

Lee Miller, the pioneer "gripman" on the commercial travellers line, was at the St. Charles yesterday.

Mrs. D. C. Pattison and her brother, P. J. McNeal, came in from the Pattison ranch Thursday, and registered at the St. Charles.  They left in the afternoon for San Antonio.
Center Pointers.  Mr. Becket, who has been staying at the Avenue Hotel, left on Monday's train for his home in Illinois. He is very much improved in health, and will move here permanently, if he can dispose of his property in the North.

E. Gold and Will Mueller, of Fredericksburg, were among the guests at the St. Charles Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Heffermann were guests at the Gerdes Hotel Wednesday.

J. W. Harvey, proprietor of the Austin house, Harper, and Mrs. Harvey, were registered at the Gerdes hotel, this city, Wednesday.
